, Felicia Langer!

This week, the lawyer for Human Rights, the German-Israeli Felicia Langer, completed his 80 years on, in the town of Tuebingen. Last year, Felicia Langer and her husband Mieciu could celebrate their 60 years of marriage. Langer was born in Poland. When Nazi Germany attacked Poland in September 1939, she and her family fled the Soviet Union, where they remained until the end of World War II. The family of which would become her husband, however, was not so "lucky." All except Mieciu, were exterminated by Nazi torturers, and he managed to survive a series of concentration camps.

Following their marriage, in 1950 the couple immigrated to Israel. After the birth of his son Michael, Felicia Langer enrolled in law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 1965 he began working as a lawyer. Following the occupation of Palestinian territories in the 1967 war, for more than a decade Felicia Langer was the only office to assume the defense of Palestinians in Israeli military courts ("kangaroo courts"). However, its interpretation the laws of Israel and the international evil adapts the concept of law were established as "kangaroo courts". Langer will suffer not only the arrogance of the military judges, but also had to endure vilification by his countrymen.

However, a great success Langer managed to achieve: in front of the Israeli High Court Justice, was able to prevent the deportation of Bassam Shaka, the mayor of Nablus. In 1990, Felicia Langer quit his law firm and moved, with his family in Germany. They settled in the town of Tuebingen, Baden Wuerttemberg. Since then, Felicia Langer continues to fight for the rights of the Palestinian population, but also for a better Germany.

His commitment was both verbal and through its publications. To inform the German public, Felicia Langer wrote eleven books highlighting the oppression of the Palestinians in their homeland by the Israeli occupation. It 'been criticized for his blunt language and treated with extreme hostility by a pro-Israel lobby group, the right guidance, which gives the impression of caring more for the fate of the State of Israel and not those of the Jews in Germany.

When the former President of Germany, Horst Koehler, gave it the Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, these pressure groups were disappointed. Some of them, which had previously been awarded the same honor, tried to blackmail the President Koehler to withdraw the Cross of Merit to Langer threatening that otherwise would have delivered his own. Felicia Langer was able to overcome these defamatory maintaining their dignity and completely ignoring the harassment.

A prophet usually is not recognized in their country. While enjoying the high esteem of non-Zionist Israelis, Felicia Langer has become almost an "idol" for Palestinians. When we participated together at a conference in East Jerusalem, whole families of Palestinians came forward to thank you again for what he has done for them. After his transfer from Israel, Felicia Langer was awarded several prestigious awards, among others, the Alternative Nobel Prize for Peace. The Germans should be happy that you have decided to move to their country by accepting German citizenship, which historically could not be taken for granted. Personally I count myself among the lucky ones who could use some good advice for many years, Felicia Langer and try to walk in his footsteps on the path to truth and justice. I wish you a happy birthday, or, as they say in Polish, I'm lat, lat I am!
